Parents and guardians of children attending our school are members of the co-operative. The success of the school depends on their active participation in meeting the various needs of the co-op. Members help operate and manage the school by taking part in its activities and taking on an active role in the school. The parents/guardians employ the teachers, equip the school, meet monthly budgets, maintain maximum memberships and work with the teachers in the classroom with aspects of the program.

Roles

There are various roles that parents and guardians can participate in: President, Vice-President, Fundraising, Sponsorships, Communications, Treasurer, Secretary, Registrar, Program Support, Library Support, Social Events, Fundraising, Equipment and IT administration. Participating in the co-operative duties provides a great sense of fulfillment and enjoyment while being a part of your child’s first learning experience.

Time Commitment

Some roles require more work than others, varying from 1-4 hours per week. When parents/guardians fill out the registration package, they may decide which 3 roles interest them. The President and Vice-President will go through all packages and work closely with the families to best support and fit the roles accordingly. Roles are usually finalized a few weeks before the new school year begins. Certain roles are Board Member roles and require attendance on a virtual call every 2-3 months. All families and teachers are required to attend a virtual call every 3 months which is a wonderful way to find out about school updates, ask questions and give feedback.
